Pastor Michael J. Marx, Sr. completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, KY in 1979; and his Master of Divinity degree at Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, TN in 1983.

He has post graduate training in Christian spiritual formation, spiritual direction and contemplative prayer.

Pastor Mike was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1985 and pastored Methodist churches in Kentucky.  He served for ten years as a hospital chaplain and then for nine years as a UCC pastor in Kentucky.  He has ordained standing in the Illinois South Conference of the United Church of Christ.

He served for thirteen years in the United States Army Reserve and the National Guard, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) before being commissioned as an officer in the Chaplains Branch.

Pastor Mike came to Eden Church on December 30, 2009.  He is married to Elizabeth and they have five children and eleven grandchildren.  His position at Eden Church includes primary responsibility for pastor care and visitation, cyber ministry, and adult spiritual formation.
