A Family Rooted in Christ, Growing in Grace, and Living in Love At Eden Church, youth in the 8th grade are invited to attend the confirmation program. During the summer between 7thand 8th grade, young people or their families are invited to call the church office (656-4330) with these names as we prepare the class. Often we have between 20 and 35 students in the class. 8th grade students who aren't yet a part of the class may join even after the class has already begun. The Confirmation class begins in the fall (several weeks after school starts). The class meets weekly through Easter (except holidays). Each session lasts about an hour, led by our Pastors and our Director of Discipleship, with youth working to strengthen their faith in God and to develop spiritual habits that will serve them throughout their lives. TThe class is invited on a moving journey of discovery to get to know the Christian faith, its ideas, its people, its history, and its book - the Bible. The class is challenged to affirm their belief and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. In addition to the weekly sessions Confirmands are expected to participate in scheduled overnight retreats, our mentoring program, Sunday School, and Sunday Morning Worship. Each member of the class will create their own statement of faith. Two weeks before Easter the statements of the class are shared with family and friends. On Saturday, eight days before Easter, the class will get together to practice the confirmation ceremony itself and for pictures. The Rite of Confirmation will take place on the Sunday before Easter. The class will celebrate communion as a class on the Thursday before Easter (Maundy Thursday). In the Confirmation program at Eden, we cover the following topics:
