The Glen-Ed Pantry, founded in 1980, provides regular, emergency and referral services to people whose household income falls below Illinois Department of Human Services guidelines. The pantry is staffed by more than 500 volunteers annually, and serves about 300 families in southern Madison County per month. Services include food, clothing, rent and utility assistance, school supplies, Christmas and Thanksgiving baskets, and referrals for vision and dental care. The Pantry is an ecumenical agency governed by a board of directors representing 18 churches within Edwardsville and Glen Carbon. More information is available at www.glenedpantry.org
On behalf of the Glen-Ed Pantry, Eden Church wants to say thank you to its members for support of our Thanksgiving basket program. In 2010, 300 Thanksgiving baskets were provided to the Pantry at a cost $8,242. Eden provided $6,762 of the money and St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Immanuel United Methodist, St. John United Methodist and Mt. Joy Missionary Baptist Church provided the additional funds. Thanks to each of you for your generosity and thanks to the volunteers who helped deliver these meals to the pantry.
