Hospice of Southern Illinois

Hospice of Southern Illinois is a not-for-profit, free standing, community based Hospice founded in 1981 with a commitment to provide Hospice services to terminally ill patients and their families in the St. Louis – Metro East community. In March 2010 the organization opened and accepted its first patient at the new Hospice home named “Relais Bonne Eau” on 17 acres of donated land in Edwardsville. Most people would prefer to live their last days at home surrounded by people they know and love. One of the prime attractions of Hospice care is the emphasis on keeping patients in their own home. However, when this is no longer possible, Relais Bonne Eau maintains the home-like atmosphere. Staffed by Hospice professionals and volunteers, Relais Bonne Eau provides holistic care in a tranquil environment addressing the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient and family. The focus is on the importance of quality of life as well as the length of life.

Generous financial support from the communities served, including memorials and donations from friends, families and corporations allow Hospice to provide care to all patients and families regardless of their ability to pay. Volunteers are an important component of Hospice care and act in many capacities. No experience is required, just an interest in helping others.
